Its a test to see what he can get away with. If the judge does not give him a hard slapdown (and ignore his inevitable whingeing) he's going to be emboldened to do even worse. NPDs like himself only understand consequences, not reasoning or promises.

Agreed. He's stepping across the line intentionally because he thinks hes untouchable. I think two weeks in the can for a first offense would be a strong enough deterrent to repeat behavior.
