I fully concur... I've had a number of mediocre interviews that led nowhere and one very bad where I was treated utterly disrepectfully a few years back that was both pissing me off as well as shaking me up in regards to what I assumed was a minimum level of courtesy in hiring and recruiting. After beating myself up about it for a while, I completely revised my expectations (for the worse) and looked for alternative routes, that helped.
Hint: LinkedIn is a dead end usually, it's just Facebook /w CV attached, waste of time trying to get you hooked on another "social" website.
Best short advice I can give is 1) go through friends and existing connections, 2) in larger orgs, go directly to someone in charge (bypass HR!!), and 3) use cold emailing to the best of your ability.
