I had come to this conclusion in 10th grade. Just got done learning about the 3 European 'isms' in history class then one day while doing the pledge in homeroom, it occurred to me this is the exact type of thing that I would expect to be mandatory in Italy or Germany. Never did it again. Also occurred to me that the Federal Reserve and New Deal sounded exactly like sonething a Communist nation would do. I guess it can be said I became an anarchist that day which I had known about from my involvement in the punk /hardcore scenes. Never looked back.

Great memory and realization at that age. Me then, I was still just a sponge, waiting for that bell to ring and off to soccer, wrestling or track depending on the season.

I think I actually had a good history teacher. Was in gifted/ap so got a whole different education. And to be honest, I really credit Public Enemy for some of my early realizations. Got into them in middle school and obvious one can pick some things in their lyrics. And most importantly, my mother taught from an early age to always question things and to not just believe things because an adult says it. So all I the hell I put her through growing up was her own making😂

Oh yea, the first Iraq War and the Rodney King incident were all around that time as well so those affected me as well in these matters.
