What’s the one company behind Nostr?

My critique of Nostr is that it suffers from a bit of the tyranny of structurelessness.

I strongly prefer the system we’ve got with nostr than a system by which the code is open source but the control over the protocol is tightly controlled by a single vc backed company.

It's worth noting that the Nostr protocol might be more regulated than commonly perceived. As of now, the protocol may be more centralized in terms of control compared to Bluesky. This primarily because a single entity holds significant authority, including the ability to override, silence, or block certain opinions. This seems to occur more frequently than one might expect. A potential improvement for Nostr could be the introduction of multiple controlling entities, which could provide a balance by counteracting each other's influence. It's good that there is more than one approach, bluesky is really trying to be an open protocol, and good luck to both efforts. I'd love to see a competition where nostr and bluesky try to be more open than the other.
