I like a bunch of different kinds of music that are similar to Tool
But I don't like Tool
I think the whole prog rock "weird time signatures for no reason" thing keeps it from having the energy or rhythm of more conventional music

Thanks for insight about the time sig. Perhaps that’s what draws me in. Or could just be that’s the music I heard in my more formative years. That said I have never liked Hootie & the Blowfish.
