One time I was walking along a cute riverside in Tokyo. An adorable older couple were holding hands and walking/skipping so fast…
They were 2x my age, and I’m a life-long NYer who walks very fast, but they were so happy, free, and young at heart that I couldn’t keep up. 😅
I love that! I volunteered at a hospice for a while and it was so heart warming to connect with the older folks there. It’s interesting how they see the world. I love how present they are. The hustle and bustle of their lives has slowed down, and they start to truly notice the beauty of their surroundings. Their stories are incredible, and the wisdom is profound.
My recent recovery 2 years ago taught me patience, and the importance of reducing our stress levels… love old folks who are at that level of peace - I hope to get to that level 🙏
There are so many that are a wealth of knowledge. I work mostly with the geriatric pop and love talking with them about their lives and the things they have seen change when time permits
Yes! They have such beautiful souls. Great job taking the time to connect with them. It means the world to them.
They're often more authentic.
They've gotten to the point where they don't know how they're supposed to behave & have stopped trying to keep up.
Many still have their childhood conditioning but it's a very different flavour to the conditioning we've had.
As a big hairy dude, I'm always surprised by how quickly they warm to me. Kids are similar.
