Is that to add the exotic(ness) to it or does that make the wine taste special?
Based on my limited understanding what I'm starting to recognize is that you can grow the same grape but if your soil types are different it changes the flavor of the grape. So for instance, the wine from a pinot noir grape grown in a clay soil will taste different than a loamy soil.
