I think I kind of understand the block relay thing now. Core’s position is actually reasonable. Relay filters are objectively bad for UTXO set size as this forces shitcoin devs to take a more difficult but cheaper (on chain) approach to data storage with outputs that can’t be proven to be unspendable.
Perhaps an entirely new consensus rule is needed. And tiered utxo set storage, perhaps?
this isn't corporate software development. taking options away from users is not reasonable in Bitcoin.
