it may be riots and fires in some places
but probably more commonly collapse is literally where everyone just leaves, until the economy of a settlement shrinks so much that the place becomes a ghost town
I font think it will be even that. People are too willing to sell themselves into slavery. We're a slave species.
every yoke eventually weighs too much to carry... those who make them don't have moderation
People are willing to carry that yoke for 10 generations, and on the 11th only do something when their masters have a dispute between themselves.
humans are lazy
