But Mastodon is larger and light years ahead of nostr and they failed to get mass adoption for the past 10 years

Nostr isn’t far off from mastodon, certainly not ā€œlight yearsā€. Things work well here for the most part.

Run your own fedi whatever and let me know what you find

I already know what I’ll find based on what I’ve seen. To this day, ppl struggle to keep instances up. Even tech ppl.

I’m talking about features and management and moderation

The only feature I’m missing is emoji reacts. I’m sure the moderation tools will be sorted soon given the new pressure fedi ppl are putting on the platform.

I think we are mostly blocked by now

Have you checked relays with the tool #[7] made? I’m able to talk to ppl just fine.

No fuck Thor. He always blocks me

lol

Not everyone understands the fundamental differences between Mastodon & Nostr.

NVK explained it clearly in the screenshot above.

If not clear enough, people should read below, and ask themselves what's more important: some gimmicks and a slick UX, or a censorship-resistant Free Speech network.

FREEDOM MATTERS.

https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nostr#the-problem-with-mastodon-and-similar-programs

Censorship is happening on here too and there will eventually be shared blocklists like on mastodon. On mastodon, you can create an account on many instances and not be silenced just like here

Threads are broken as shit so I can’t see anything but I can only assume Verita is subverting again. Going to start āœ”ļøing him on sight.

on which app? threads are fine for me on iris today, bit broken on snort

All of them. I think Damus is writing to threads incorrectly too, not just reading, so it’s broken everywhere.

Damus is definitely broken, but the posts are in the right order if you mess with it a bit.

The problem is, as outline in the pic above, that it's still centralised which doesn't make it censorship resistant or accessible to anyone and everyone. Any network that is aiming at truly free speech but then adds moderating tools (outside of spam control and bot banning perhaps) will fail. The moderation on a truly free platform will come down to the individually user by spending time on filtering (and banning) the content or people they want to see or not see. If that makes any sense.

>Failed to get adoption.

Cloudflare, Facebook, Tumblr. Those are three giants that are actively working on ActivityPub compatibility right now. I think the Facebook one was just announced a couple days ago.

Obviously it hasn’t completely failed. New standards take time to catch on.

I wonder if those 10k users have already migrated here. If not, how many are ā€œbittercoinersā€ anti-nostr.

Eventually all of them will become nostriches, when 🐦 becomes a Nostr client.
