I live in Europe, know a lot of smart Europeans who are friendly, you can have conversations, but when it gets to certain topics, they are almost brain dead, checked out, unable to process. It’s like a cult.

disappointing to me because I like some of these people, see them socially on occasion, have *some* values in common, but you can’t really be close friends with a cultist.
