When California introduced a law to make all new vehicles by 2035 and in THE SAME WEEK sent out messages to people asking them not to charge their EVs due to overload on the grid, it should have been obvious to everyone with two brain cells to run together that the plan is completely infeasible.
Unfortunately such is the nature of regulatory capture and having a parasite class who between them don’t have two brain cells to rub together.
I feel the problem is less that they are stupid (they are) and corrupt (they are), and more that they don't see any reason to feel responsible for actual outcomes. Or even pretend to. As long as the "announceable" gets clicks and likes they've done their job.
I do think that's something fairly new.
Most of them are ideologues who believe their own bullshit - that’s the biggest problem.
They rose through the ranks as a bunch of sycophants, and when they arrive at the top they’re convinced they got their on merit and because they’re smarter than everyone else, they can solve every problem on earth.
Every problem government for 30+ years whilst these current parasites were working in political offices in the background, has been “solved” by printing money and leveraging state power (coercion) to get their way.
You can use coercion on the auto makers to force their hand but you can’t print energy. Now they’re at the helm they try the same old formula and because none of them have any real world experience they don’t understand why the money printer doesn’t overcome physics and are to beholden to their ideology to learn why.
The short termist nature of politics compounds the problem, but at the end of the day it is people who occupy those positions of power and THEY are the problem, having been selected from a shallow gene pool of narcissistic political operators who rise like turds in a toilet bowl through corruption and backstabbing rather than any actual merit, knowledge, or ability.
