It just says 'syncing' too
If you logged in and it doesn't restore the score that means it wasn't synced correctly. Use downisontheup.ca and try again. You should see a "Syncing..." Message on the game over screen when you get a new ATH, and it will turn green when successful.
Do you have to wait till it turns green?

Now score a new ATH and see what happens.
