Yeah I think this is why I've been so enamoured with hip hop as an artform for most of my life... when done right, it can be incredibly dense in its message (music/frequency/rhythm combined with words/poetry/storytelling/mantras) as well as entertaining. But overall, I don't think good art necessarily HAS to entertain. It can simply leave you in awe, or challenge your preconceived notions, or bring up something deep within that you've suppressed. The notion that art=entertainment is a bit of a fiat mindset fallacy IMO

I totally get what you’re saying—I think our perspectives just differ a bit when it comes to the word “entertainment.” By definition, it means something that amuses, engages, or relaxes us, so even if we focus on different aspects, we’re basically talking about the same thing. And honestly, I don’t see “entertainment” carrying any negative connotations.
