Not sure what I’ll post here regularly... this is just a personal account for me, but I figured I should explain my username.

Why “taketheupdate”?

I work in cybersecurity, so this is how I think about the Gospel:

Adam & Eve were created with clean, fully patched code.

The first sin was the malware injection... a successful exploit via social engineering.

To contain the breach, humanity was moved into a segmented, quarantined network (Earth) to limit further spread.

The security patch is Jesus Christ... His death and resurrection remove the exploit and restore system integrity.

But because humans were designed with free will, the patch isn’t force-installed. It’s an opt-in update.

In the end, only those who take the update will be moved out of quarantine into the secure, eternal network (Heaven).

For me, this username is a reminder that the ultimate vulnerability has a fix... but you have to choose to install it.

And as someone who’s into Bitcoin and Nostr, I love open, decentralized networks, but I also believe the ultimate upgrade is still spiritual.

What about the malevolent social engineers? How did they become what they are? If they had full knowledge of the creator and mainframe etc how was it that they became corrupt? I.e. how could such an intelligence with such knowledge of the goodness of the creator actually want anything else other than Him. I feel like this is an inaccessible mystery - I see. I reason why they would choose anything other than their creator. If we say there was some imperfection in them that allowed for their choice, we say that the creator programmer didn’t create their agents (angels) perfectly.

Why were they allowed roam around the creation to inject malware, why were they not quarantined themselves.

Finally why are those that chose not to upgrade left in a far worse quarantine eternally, why not permanently erased?

And why were they let roam around?

Think of it this way: even a system admin with full documentation can still choose to go rogue and try to escalate privileges... the issue isn’t bad code, it’s free will baked into the design. The “malevolent social engineers” weren’t quarantined immediately because God runs creation like a segmented testbed... He lets adversaries operate inside a controlled environment so their exploits reveal the full scope of His justice and mercy, like a red team that exposes vulnerabilities for the blue team to patch. As for why eternal quarantine exists, it’s not deletion but permanent network isolation: once an agent refuses the ultimate patch (Christ), they’ve opted out of connectivity with the only source of power and life, leaving them in a dark subnet forever.
