So this Raspberry Pi only came with a 16 GB card. What would be the best size to get if I get another MicroSD card? I plan to use this for nostr. Also, wouldn't mind doing a lightning node, but do I have to run the Bitcoin Blockchain as well? #noob #asknostr

"best" size depends on your needs & budget.

For example, if your budget is infinite, a 512GB card would be a good start.

If you are on a budget, you just calculate all the space your servers, including Bitcoin nodes, etc. would need & add like 35-60% size on top.

However, if you really need the entire Bitcoin Blockchain, you need at least a 1TB #microSD.

Thanks for replying! Wish they made a bigger SD card. I am not a linux genius but can you tell a program where to store/install the data like you can in Windows?

Start 9 and Umbrel make it easy. Just don't run too much on a raspi. I run an Umbrel on a raspi and Start9 on an OptiPlex. You don't need to learn linux/bash. You just need Balena Etcher.

16 gb is good enough to run an Umbrel, but you'll need at least a 1TBSSD card, but I recomend getting 2TB. I bought a one on newegg.com for about 75 bucks and they accept bitcoin.

Thanks! I will look into Umbrel. I have a 2 TB SSD I can hook up to the Pi so that's good to know. Umbrel's website says that the app data is going to be stored on the SSD so that makes me feel better.
