Because Nips are easier to read than a string of random characters & adds a little verified-type checkmark next to your name (only on certain clients rn). So easier to verify it’s the real person when scrolling through the feed

just do last 4 digits

That requires clicking on the account every time to go check the key on their page. The nip identifier *ideally* appears as the name or by the name on others’ feeds

ok, instead of seeing “pat”, I see pat@real.person ✅

but can’t there also be pat@alsoreal.person✅

Yes

Derek. I’m back with a new account and abandoned “vandervalk”. I’m still having issues and put in the public key as suggested. New account jason@nostrplebs.com I’m so sorry. 😩

visit nostrplebs.com/manage. enter your password. update your public key to match your new pub key: caf4277f0ca726b964e29dcebba23d63f5a3fdf02c7d3ef2534469ae57f396a2. then go into your client profile settings and set your NIP-05 ID back to vanderbalk@nostrplebs.com

Did you mean jason@nostrplebs.com ? That is my new account that I created. Because I did what you suggested and that isn’t working. Sorry for bothering you. Ugh. :(

🤙🏼

there are many real jack’s in the world tho

there will be other jack’s with a verified-type checkmark next to their name, right?

I’m assuming you are using Damus, otherwise You would see my identifier as an example. It appears in every post for everyone else, but hasn’t been implemented into Damus yet.

yep, flying blind over here apparently
