Guyana, Venezuela's neighbor, is the world's third-fastest-growing non-OPEC oil producer. An escalating border dispute between the two nations threatens to disrupt ~700,000 bbl/day of production. ExxonMobil and Chevron control 80% of the mineral rights in the disputed area, with the remaining 20% held by Chinese firms. Both countries' currencies are pegged to the U.S. dollar. Guyana also has alot of gold (24th largest global producer).
