I want to get into #NixOS but I'm afraid I'll spend the first 6 months tweaking config files.

100% mate you will learn and fall, repeat many times. Just be mindful on the configuration and backup. Host local gitea initially if you like. i am on month 7 now and love it. Mostly running servers not ideal but desktop exp with hyprland is so good. like every learning curve you will get hiccups but start if you ready...
