Well, I wouldn't say that donations decide everything in democracy. It could also be the propaganda and psychological manipulation through media that helps sway voters towards a particular candidate. In any case, money always plays a role whether consciously or subconsciously. And speaking of Bitcoin and Nostr, they certainly do offer more decentralized solutions for transfer of value and uncensorable communication respectively. But unfortunately, they aren't a magic solution to fix all the existing problems in our society!
