In America? The farther we move from natural law the less legitimate the magistrate becomes and the more likely God allows revolution.
The hypothetical gotcha described here is the current state of most of the Western world. Whites executed "legally" by minority hordes.
State authority is illegitimate. If a state exists its only legitimate role is to enforce contracts and use force to stop individuals and groups from violating natural rights of individuals.
Anything it does outside of that is illegitimate.
Its not very good at the former and it does a lot of the latter.
