Indeed. Sadly, this is the way things have been working for a long time. Here, where there are many intelligent and willing people, we have a hard time agreeing on what the goals we should/must work toward should be. The status quo is difficult to challenge, and we want/don't want change. Furthermore, the individual opportunity cost makes it even more difficult.
