Listening to the StackOverflow podcast from 2008 to 2016 you see how much has changed in the "tech" world in the meantime -- but you also see very clearly how the default acceptable "social" views changed.

It’s definitely noticeable how different the people’s opinions are today, compared to years back 🐶🐾🤔

Would be very happy for some examples (or noteworthy episodes).

Sorry, it would do justice to the full experience if I said anything.

The only thing that hasn't changed much is Joel Spolsky. Not that he is a right-wing conservative, but he doesn't change his style to match the newest lefty trends either. He is always like a funny uncle that does some "inappropriate" jokes from time to time -- also when he says the best things he do that's the time other people don't take him seriously.

missed opportunity

Yes, I was a guest on stack overflow once. The two hosts (Spolsky and whats-his-name) made a dumb comment on twitter or somewhere about how the SOLID principles were a joke or stupid or something. I responded in kind, and then they invited me on the podcast.

That's a pretty common trick to get guests on a podcast. You insult them on social media, and then you get them for an hour tod drive ratings. Whatever.

And yes, I did NOT promote nostr at the time. I wish that I had. I wish that I had forseen the horrors that were coming and pushed for a free speech platform back then.

But I'm here now.

I believe he's joking since nostr didn't exist at the time.
