When newcomers arrive on Nostr through Bitcoin, most expect a community of like-minded people curious, open, ready to share knowledge.

Instead, many find:

Interfaces that feel experimental and raw

A constant stream of inside jokes and memes

References to cypherpunk history that feel like gatekeeping

And a culture that (maybe unintentionally) tests you before letting you in

For those of us who’ve been here for a while, it all makes sense.

But imagine being new freshly orange pilled, excited, maybe even a little lost and feeling like you’re crashing a private party.

We say Bitcoin is for everyone.

We say Nostr is the future of open communication.

But are we doing enough to make this space welcoming, or have we built yet another bubble?

How can we keep Nostr raw and sovereign, while also making it accessible to people who want to learn and contribute?

Crashing a private party is such a good metaphor.

For me, it kind of feels like joing a new fandom, there's lore to uncover, new characters to find, references and abriviations 🥹

I haven't really found a way to integrate but I'll power on, swimming in the soup😤
