or swap to onchain and cold storage directly

Phoenix doesn’t provide a lightning address, hence you can’t receive #zaps, right?

Other than that it’s a nice solution for people not ready to run own node.

Correct. This is sadly what's pushing many to non-custodial solutions.

Yes, most of these self-custodial LN node-wallets do not yet (!,?) support a lightning url address for receiving zaps. This means that you cannot receive Zaps to it directly, but you can still use it to save a bigger amount of sats in or send zaps from it. I just use it to save sats on LN in as an intermediate solution, for ease.

This is just the best wallet setup focussed on self-custody without having to have to run your own, self-hosted Bitcoin LN node:

Transacting bitcoin on Nostr (active📱): WoS/ln.tips

*only use temporary, small amount of sats; custodial, but supports LN url*

↕

Saving bitcoin, Layer 2 (passive📱): Phoenix wallet

*self-custodial, can swap LN↔on-chain*

↕

Saving bitcoin, Layer 1 aka on-chain (passive💻):

*air-gapped, cold storage (e.g. seedsigner, Mk4)*

Exactly!

That’s pretty much my scheme now (having troubles with my nodes now), but I use Alby + Zeus instead of WoS.

I’m still angry with them for not giving me that customizable LN address 😂
