How exactly did freedom go down? I can still use bitcoin without anyone’s permission, what am I missing?

You can't lose Bitcoin in a boating accident.

Once it's tied to your identity, you are fucked forever. If you send it through a mixer, and then use it to pay somebody, and they do something wrong with it, and you are the only KYC person in that chain, you are going to be the one who gets the hammer.

If you say you lost your Bitcoin in a voting accident, and then they see it move, they know that you lied, because you are the only one who could have moved it, and they can see that you moved it on chain.

Believe it or not, there are ways to avoid kyc altogether.

Can you do it in the past, in the present, and in the future, in perpetuity, without ever fucking up? Because if you fuck up one single time, you're entirely fucked.

If you think there has never and will never be a situation where you will be stressed, or busy, or inconvenienced, or whatever, and not fuck up, then sure, maybe it will work. But if you're a normal human being, that's highly unlikely.
