As long as you don’t have a standing military or nukes, you’ll be under constant threat
Pay taxes to a world power to protect you
It’s like trusting a buddy not to rat you out when they have their own weak spots. I mean even a standing military is not enough. Nukes are the only way to guarantee no one f with you as a nation state
