decentralization also implies the network itself isn't owned by any one entity. that network effect, the exponentially increasing value of the network as nodes are added, is usually captured by the owner of the network, twitter for example. on the other hand, nostr pays that network effect dividend to the users of the protocol, proportionally to the value they provide the protocol. I think this is the most key point about why nostr will succeed, the incentive is to provide value, and not to gatekeep entry or editorial functions.
