Does #amethyst not have a "hide" feature? I don't want to full-on _block_ people, I just want to not see any of their posts.

That's what block does. It hides everything from the person.
Lol he thinks 'block' prevents users other than him from seeing the blocked posts. Twitter mindset. Some people will have a hard time getting their head wrapped around a distributed system.
Isn't "unfollow" what you're in need of?
