I would consider myself somwhat center left probably. And not I am defnitly not a person that is on the search whom to blame. I mostly try to figure out what actions could maby lead to more consens finding. And my first interpretation of the post you are reacting to here, was a question to ask for consensus.
I really think, that in a heated discussion (and maby most discussions today are heated sadly) one focuses only on the differences of opinions.
But I think in a functional democracy it would be most important to have a general understanding, in which topic there is consens. Since I am sure there are topics people from the left to the right are consenting on. And finding this common ground is maby just the basic to start a discussion between different oppinions.
A productive and constructive discussion needs to have a common ground. Could be a com on ground that everyone respects the freedom of speech. In a way, that no one is forced to listen to me, as no one is allowed to silence me.
Also most can maby be ok, that we should focus on messages within a discussion. More than focusing on the messenger. Otherwise every discussion will be nonsense pure subjectivity.
Than maby a place where less can consent, but maby still enough could be that I need to accept people with different oppinions. Otherwise there is no sense to ask for acceptance of my different oppinion.
I think whoever could sign such a basic social contract, could participate in a countructive discussion.
