Once I was an atheist.

Then I realized all human beings are religious. It is in our nature. Some worship science. Others worship life itself.

Even more interesting given Stalin trained to be a priest in his youth. He definitely understood that religious institutions were rivals and competitors that might wish to control the structures of the state.
