My wealthy grandma always gave out crisp $100s to the grandkids on Christmas.
I’ll be gifting 10,000 sat UTXO’s but grandkids have to control their own keys.

10k might become unspendable dust

I’m talking about in 20 years for grandkids. Would likely be an L2 or L3 tx so onchain fees won’t be a factor.
In 20 years I personally think 10,000 sats will easily be $200-$500 in real purchasing power. Wouldn’t be surprised if it were > $1000.
L2/L3 aren’t UTXOs, which also means they wouldn’t control keys.
I have keys for Zeus wallet which has L1, L2 and L3. Also software like Muun allows lightning txs and UTXOs with swapping.
Going strictly by your first note, you’d be gifting dust. I don’t know your level of understanding of UTXOs, so was just trying to help out in case you didn’t know they’d probably be dust. “Their own keys” typically implies self custody UTXOs onchain, not blended, pseudo custody of L2/L3 LSPs, VTXOs, ecash, etc.
I also really appreciate the sentiment of gifting like that to grandkids, it’s an admirable dream.
Gotta have some dreams (I have too many).
When the time comes I’ll weigh options and see what’s most economical and feasible.
Will be interesting to see if a 10,000 sat UTXO will be viable in 20 years.
Crisp hundos are still pretty nice to hold. Can't imagine getting one as a kid, must have been awesome.
Absolutely. I didn’t get to hold it for long. My whole childhood my parents put half the money I was gifted into a savings account. When I was 16 I used the money in the account to buy a car.
