chess, a game that fascinate so many since it's creation in India in the 6th century had few interesting changes throughout history
Here few of the most known ones:
6th Century: in India the game was called chaturanga, which represented the four parts of the Indian army: chariots, elephants, cavalry, and infantry.
Persian Influence: The Persians adopted the game and renamed the pieces, including the counselor (farzin) who was a male figure and moved one square diagonally.
European Transformation: In Europe, the counselor was reimagined as a queen (regina) around the 990s, but it still retained its limited movement.
Spain: in 1475: The chess queen’s power was enhanced. The tale says that Isabella was angry at the game because the queen was limited and her comments were taking to heart in the court changing the queen movement rules to make it the most agile and lethal piece in the game.
1495: The current rules of chess were established, allowing the queen to move in all directions on the board.
