Mining is most profitable on free wasted energy that wouldn’t have been used regardless so it isn’t necessarily taking from the grid that could be powering homes typically on a large scale. Mining also stabilizes the grid so that energy demand isn’t fluctuating as drastically so it would have an opposite effect if they were looking to help with their energy problem.
