I've had thoughts along this line of reasoning... The places that are much closer to nature and survival are still more connected to common sense and are still uninfected by the tech-nihilism of the social media masses. The people that understand what it means to freeze to death, still value self-determinism and tend to adhere to less permission-based modes of living. This is why the states in these climates work soooo hard to promote permission-based, state-assisted suicides and other socially constructed nihilisms. They HAVE to psychologically break the population at it's core belief of self-sufficiency to remain in power. Places where continued life is supported by the climate, other social nihilisms must be employed to maintain the power programming paradigm.
