I've been curious all my life. Why do so many (western or non Asian) people use chopsticks to eat Asian food?

It is a vibe thing? Is it an authenticity thing? Tradition? Trying to experience or honor culture? A fun dexterity challenge, perhaps? Or maybe learning new things?

I mean, there are certainly many arguments for doing it. It might cause you to eat in a more sensible way compared to the little pronged shovels that we Westerners tend to use. But I don't think that's why.

And if you really like it, then why don't you eat your spaghetti with that too? It really just is tomato sauce in lo mein after all, right?

They might feel entitled and brag about how inclusive and diverse they are. 😂

It's a way of eating slower and less.

It's better to dip sushi in soy sauce with chopsticks.

I like to be able to pick up individual rice grains with chopsticks.

For myself it is about learning. Then you can then enjoy using chopsticks anywhere.

I can speak on behalf of all chopsticks 🥢 in the world: we are offended.
