He’s giving the democrats too much credit. The reality is that they don’t have any candidates to run. Biden is their last hope and they did everything possible to prop him up.

I can see that angle as well. He's little too much set on Newsom as well.
But do they really not have anyone better, or is that they just didn't want anyone better?
Michelle Obama or even AOC could win it for them; even Liz Warren would have a better standing than clearly senile Biden, IMO.
Moreover, they had all the time in the world to fish in the Holywood/Media world, they could find some Tom Hanks, DiCaprio or DeNiro eager to step up to "save our democracy"; or some Silicon Valley mogul or Mark Cuban, Oprah, ...
Anything's possible. But I find it hard to believe that people in charge are surprised by Biden's debate performance, and that they wouldn't already have a contingency plan ready to roll.
