It's all fake. He created a brand. He speaks clearly with good eye contact in earlier interviews. He's mildly autistic but the staring off into space and taking ages to make "thoughtful" responses is an act.

It is not my responsibility to focus on how Elon Musk gazes with his piercing eyes; that’s something women might notice if they find him sexually attractive. I observed his articulation and ability to formulate long sentences while in front of the public, and he comes across as somewhat amateurish.
