Where do you even go to understand what is going on in Syria now?

I wish journalists were real.

I like Aliester Crooke

I see there's a Judge Napolitano show with him later today. Will give it a watch:)

No Agenda...

As an executive producer, I'm biased but it's the real deal.

Interesting 🤔 the hosts sound familiar. Are they on nostr or something? 🤔

Have you tried Syria?

Planes are fully booked with returnees atm 😢

* Al Jazeera has some real journalists

* .sy is the TLD for Syria so you can look for .sy news sites like https://sana.sy which won't load for me or http://syriatimes.sy/ which is a very English sounding name with no Arabic anywhere but it says the rumors about Al Assad leaving are a lie and he is still running the country from Damascus (these are literally the only 2 links I've been able to find after searching a few search engines)

* you can find people who say they're from Syria and Lebanon on X and try to figure out which ones seem real

* you can check what the media is telling you, ask yourself what the coverage seems like it's trying to program into people's heads, and ask yourself why that particular programming would be chosen

Thanks great suggestions. A lot of it is that I would hope there was something like what the BBC purports to be. It seems like you need to make it a full-time job almost lol, just to find out what the fuck is going on.

And then I mostly think, fuck it. Not my problem.

In this case that's the same way I'm handling it. When I come across a Syrian who wants to be understood, they'll teach me what I need to know. For now all I know is people in the region seem excited/relieved and many syrians are returning home (as you've posted about) 🤙
