I think the process you have going is a bit unclear for me, a non-dev. The dev-tastic folks around here seem to just "get it."

idk honestly what the difference is between storing an nsec in Alby vs. 1 password (other than I feel like I have control with 1PW).

But there's something buggy about trying to keep it in Alby. I'm not alone in this experience, you should see this Reddit thread on it that dates back 7 months (a lifetime in nostr world 🌎 )

Hmm, we're afraid that's the problem with Primal, not with our nsec storing.

Unlike 1PW, our extension is open-source and it can be verified, that your keys do not leave the machine and aren't stored on our's (and not on clients') servers.

Alby extension does not only store your nsec, but it uses it to sign and encrypt nostr events - logging in, posting, sending messages, and all of the activity - and only then passing it on to the internet, for your security. 1PW does nothing of that type, it's a totally different tool.
