Correct me if I'm wrong, but running your node with a larger cache gives these low fee rate transactions a place to live while they're getting purged from all the nodes that run a default cache size, and they can then propagate back out across the network later, no? I've always run a 2GB cache because I had this assumption.

yes, for instance, my node shows even less. They have a higher than default. My node is default : mempool.happytavern.co
