In my peak diet era to lose weight for example I'd have 6 hard boiled eggs and some bread with butter for a meal.

well that sounds bland i will give you that

but i'm not sure it qualifies as a great diet

eggs already have more or less the right protein to calories ratio so adding bread and butter to them would just slow weight loss

i would just have 6 eggs and call it a meal

and i would certainly have them soft boiled than hard boiled

there is a difference between not adding sauce to a meal and deliberately ruining it to the point of being almost inedible

😄

Oh I wouldn't claim it was a great diet at all, but it worked. Also this was several years ago and I would do things differently now in the same situation. The bread is of course not essential but it made the meal seem more complete. I kept my diet bland for a couple of years until I was in the range I wanted to be, and there were many variations. For example, I would also use chicken and steamed vegetables for dinner. Or for breakfast, I would have granola, whey protein and yogurt with some jam -- it was certainly the case that fiber acted as an appetite suppressant.

Not a great diet but it wasn't meant to be, it was just a means to an end.

yeah to be honest i would rather fast or count calories than eat bland food

but everyone has to find what works for them
