Nostr I need your advice ⁉️

I have some first generation AirPods that are almost dead. Looking to replace for another set of similar style.

ANC a nice to have but not a necessity. Aiming to spend <$200.

How's the battery life and mic quality?

I don't use the for calls, but battery life is good. They last up to 5 hours, plus they have like 2 and 1/2 charge with the case

Similar situation, but ANC are a must have 😅

Airpods 3rd Gen are 169 USD on the Apple Store

I know, just seeing if there's any strong consensus around any of the competitor items.

Ah got it! 🤝

Consider getting something wired if you keep them in for long periods of time. Jury is still out on the EMF radiation and AirPods throw a significant amount very close to your 🧠.

Yeah have seen that before. Do we know if this is unique to AirPods or true of all wireless buds?

Don’t know. Hopefully, if someone knows, they’ll post more details in this thread.

They definitely seem worse than over the ear bose headphones, as an example

Do you use them with your graphene phone?

Any concerns around apple tracking them like they do with AirTags or is that not something the AirPods are capable of?

My phone runs Calyx, but yes I do use them with that. I'm not sure they'd be able to do that tbh, but I could be wrong.

Check out Soundcore (by Anker). They have different models in various price ranges. Rockin them Life P2 for some years now ✌️

Those look good. How's the mic performance?

Quite good. I use them for phonecalls regularly. They're definitely better than you would expect at that price level.

Jabra 75t elite ; although discontinued, they remain very impressive. Doesn't get hot like over the ear ANC cups do.

On my 4th pair. 😃

Grado SR80 (~$120) for wired music and podcasts , audiobooks etc.

How's the mic quality?

It's decent I believe. No complaints on all the regular devices. Of course that's hard for me to compare to others.

Wind noise outside is also cancelled quite well for the listener, I am told by the other side.

Thank you for your input mate
