why does steam show updates on almost all my games every time i start up steam on a new day?

just every day, 100, 300, 500mb download, no big deal NOT

i don't get what it's for, they can't possibly be pushing this many changes to the things every day? surely?

i'm scheduling it to do it when i'm asleep from now on... only need to leave it running, i guess, often do, with some spooky ambient night/rain noises to drown out the refrigerator's intermittent drones
