My Chinese is not good enough to express this idea correctly. But mandarin is only a few hundred years old as a dialect. And the language family of Chinese is not older than any other language family like romance languages or Germanic languages. As a culture, China is not any older than Europe really. You could say that the Chinese writing system is one of the oldest in use I suppose. Although the Latin alphabet is pretty old and dates atleast back to ancient Egypt.
