perhaps when we had an empire this would be a more appropriate insult, although cockroaches aren't often associated with creating trade routes, building nations and establishing the strongest navy in history.
pakis and turks, on the other hand, bare many similarities with cockroaches, not least the smell, appearance and "scuttle movement".
