Our generation has been fortunate to consume art by living survivors of communistic and socialist regimes. From Czechoslovakia, the Soviet Union, Hungary, East Germany, and more.

Through these books, poems, films, and other works of art, we’re reminded of the darkness that once consumed entire continents and sought to extinguish the flame of human liberty.

On other continents, that darkness continues to manifest.
