Little of Australian media actually makes it out of the country because it's utterly awful - or at least it was when I entered my bubble and I've heard nothing to suggest it's improved since then. Those rare things that do escape are probably decent, aside from Neighbours which I always assumed the Brits watched for some ironic reason.

We watched neighbours cos they put it on at a time which was between school ending and just before the Simpsons. The perfect time timing for children who were putting off homework. But we stayed for the comfortingly rigid moral world lol

Yeah, that makes sense - semi-captive market. Over here it was on between the news and the Simpsons. We also have laws that require the TV stations screen a certain amount of locally-produced content but I think it was the UK that was keeping the show in production.

Of course, the area in Melbourne where the fictional suburb is set has been full of Chinese and Vietnamese immigrants for a couple of decades now.
