Had a fruitful discussion today at the ASEAN People's Forum to talk about the rising digital authoritarianism in Southeast Asia. I couldn't be in Jakarta but I felt the spirit of comradeship and empowerment from here. My part in this discourse focused on the nuances of digital spaces, how they're being manipulated, and the implications for grassroots movements and individual freedoms. I passionately argued that it's not just up to policymakers to guard our digital freedoms. Every netizen has a role in safeguarding the values we hold dear especially when the surveillance and the attacks come from the states themselves.
