Ledger should immediately make all of their software open source.
That's the only move to reinstill trust imo.

Best opinion yet on the matter. Happy to own the ledger nano S, which can't be extracted from.
Offer a parallel cheaper device line with no frills and no updateable firmware.
Not sure that helps. The issue is that their software can't be audited. If it was at least open source you would see any potential backdoor.
Their recent announcement of the recovery service, think what you want, does not change that issue but has only brought attention to it.
It would help in that it would address the flashable firmware concern of their existing customer base. But I agree open source is the only way to work on reestablishing trust.
Yea.. Thought about it again. Makes sense to have it separated. More feature-rich software is more complex and hence more vulnerable.
Keep it simple... Like Bitcoin.
